Mikumi Safari Tanzania, Selous game reserve,Ruaha Mikumi tour

Day 1.

Morning start your Mikumi Safari Tanzania from Dar Es Salaam and depart for the Selous Game Reserve. This is a 220 kilometer drive in a safari 4×4 through the game reserve. Arriving for Lunch at the Camp and later having an afternoon game viewing safari. You will be looking out for the rare species of animals close to the River banks.D Expect to see Elephant, Wildebeest, Lion, Leopard and other wildlife. Later, proceed to your private luxury tented camp for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 2.

The day will be spent on game viewing in the Game Reserve. Because the Selous is hardly visited by many tourists, you will most probably have the park to yourselves. The safari guide points out rare species of animals like the Wild Dogs. Sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile Crocodile, hippopotamus along the banks of the Rufiji river, Cape buffalo, hartebeest and Eland. Picnic lunches and drinks will be served in the wilderness before heading back to camp for candle lit dinner and overnight to the gentle grunting of Hippos at Rufiji Camp.

Day 3

Morning breakfast at the camp and start a guided walking safari in the Selous Game Reserve. The armed ranger guide will be leading you to areas along the banks of the River to have a close up experience with Wild animals. You see Cape Buffalo, Nile Crocodile, elephants and schools of hippo. Later, have a boat trip down river, sailing through Hippos, birds, Nile crocodiles and other wildlife. They would be coming to the banks for the afternoon drink at the waterhole. After this safari experience, return to the camp for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 4. Selous Safari

Morning breakfast, then another full day of game viewing in the Selous game reserve. We will be visiting a different area, meanwhile be searching for the Big Five of Tanzania. Hunting dogs and other wildlife may be encountered on the hunts. The following animals are likely to be seen; cape buffalo in herds and the other solitary ones. Closer to the river banks, see impala, white-bearded wildebeest, water buck, topi Greater kudu, leopard and Sanje crested mangabey. Uhehe red colobus, klipspringers, reed-buck, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest warthog, side striped jackal and many more. Picnic lunch is served on the plains before returning for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 5

Morning breakfast then pick up your picnic lunches and prepare for the next adventure. Later on, take a full day drive towards Ruaha National Park. Afterwards, arrive late evening for an en route game drive to the Vuma Hill Camp.

Day 6

Early morning breakfast then start the safari to the Ruaha National park. A game drive in the mid morning will be focused on finding the Big Five animals. Look out for heard Elephants that are never found anywhere else and later transfer to your lodge for lunch. In the evening, a sunset game drive is then conducted to find the elusive Leopards and birds. Meals and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge.

Day 7. Ruaha Safari

Full day of game viewing in the park, meanwhile, the other time spent relaxing at the safari lodge. The highest concentration of Elephants in East Africa believed to be in this park. Roan antelope one of the most endangered species features on the checklist on the game drive. Look out for Kudu, Sable Antelope as well as Bat eared Foxes, Impala, Jackal and Monitor Lizards. Picnic lunches served at a cool spot on the game drive before returning late evening for dinner and overnight at the Ruaha River lodge.

Day 8.

Breakfast and thereafter, proceed on an early departure for Mikumi National Park. You arrive for lunch at the Camp before taking an evening Mikumi Safari Tanzania tour. Thereafter, have an off the beaten path experience in the Mikumi National park in the Southern Tanzania. The park borders the Selous Game reserve, famous for animals hardly seen anywhere in the northern Tanzania national parks. It is here that animals Like the Sable Antelope, African Wild dog or hunting dog hunts prey by out running. The packs take it down larger animals by biting chunks of flesh during pursuit. Greater Kudus with very long horns, the roan antelope an endangered specie a rarity on safari in Tanzania. Meals and overnight at Vuma Hill Camp.

Day 9. Mikumi walking safari and nature walks

After breakfast, then have a morning game drive in Mikumi Park with the private safari guide. The vegetation of Mikumi National Park varies between expansive plains as well as Miombo woodland. Flood plains attract animals like the wildebeest, Giraffes and the African Elephants. Wildlife amidst nature grazing through the Acacia trees with prolific bird-life in the Mikumi National park. In addition, bird guides have been able to identify over 300 species of birds in the park. At Mikumi, a bird watching checklist will most likely include; yellow throated long claws, Racket Tailed Roller, bhoem’s bee eater, Pale billed Horn-bill, Miombo Rock Thrush and Shelley`s Sunbird.
